Advantages of Community Partners Joining Safe & Sound

As of June 2007, Community Partners became Safe & Sound Community Partners. Although the programs have operated under the Safe & Sound collaboration since 1997 with a shared vision of reducing youth crime and violence, the recent unification has proven to be a wise decision programmatically, but also for Milwaukee.

Safe & Sound Safe Places have the ability to take youth off the street and into youth serving agencies during statistically determined high-crime hours, offering them a range of anti-crime youth development activities adapted to the specific expertise of the center and the needs of the community. Community Partners utilizes their strong community relationships with residents, law-enforcement, City services, elected officials, community and faith based organizations to take youth back out into the neighborhoods. Working cooperatively with Community Partners and residents to address neighborhood concerns, Safe Place youth design and implement initiatives that utilize existing resources to target the issues they are most concerned with.

Together, Safe Places and Community Partners can provide our young people with the programming and guidance they need, effectively integrate youth into neighborhood based initiatives, and ultimately build pride and ownership of their community.
