Resident Demographics
Thirty six meetings and events were facilitated in July alone by Community Partners, including neighborhood business walks, block club meetings and youth led events. As of June 30, 1561 unduplicated youth and adult community residents have been involved in these anti-crime meetings and events facilitated by Safe & Sound. 56% of these participants are male and 44% female. 65%, or 1015 were African American, while the next largest group involved is the Latino population at 19%. 43% of these individuals are from 12-17 years old, within the Safe & Sound target population for anti-crime efforts. 69 of the meetings and events were established through Safe & Sound’s 26 youth leadership groups at Safe Places as part of their Crime Strategy Initiatives. Lastly, 2138 hours of community service were logged as a result of the efforts of 1302 offenders and community volunteers’ efforts towards anti-crime and community improvement in Milwaukee.
