VIDEO: Milwaukee Leaders Speak Out at Project Excel Block Party

Milwaukee youth, community leaders and politicians gathered at Wisconsin Community Services’ Project Excel’s Block Party to encourage community youth to stop the violence and get an education. The block party came about in part as an outcome of the Safe & Sound youth led Crime Strategy Initiative and the youths’ involvement community issues, specifically gangs and guns. We are very proud of the group’s effort!

Residents Walk with their Alderman, Police and Safe & Sound

The walk was organized after numerous residents complained of nuisance loitering, public drinking and drug activity on 42nd and Capitol. The first step was to build awareness and consensus of the problem at hand, which was accomplished through the outreach, a block meeting and now the neighborhood walk.
