Summer of Peace Youth Rally

Aug 9th, 2009

The 2009 Summer of Peace was from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Friday, August 8th at Kilbourn-Kadish Park, 900 E. North Ave. Each year Milwaukee’s youth gather and speak the message of peace and community unity at this event. Dynamic dance, music, and peace art exhibits are among the languages spoken. It is a youth-led initiative beginning with a “Peace Summit” and continuing with a Parade, then the Milwaukee Peacemaker Recognition Ceremony and the SOP “Stop the Violence” Youth Performance Showcase. The Summer of Peace Initiative represents a collective effort from more than 25 area organizations. Year after year staff from COA Riverwest, a Safe & Sound Safe Place, and Community Partners staff has been on hand to help organize and carry out this great youth rally.
