Safe & Sound Participates in Road 2 Recovery Event

Apr 19th, 2010

Before playing host to a set of Milwaukee Admirals and Bucks playoff games, the Bradley Center played host to “The Road 2 Recovery: An Event Showcasing Resources in Milwaukee County.” Safe & Sound was one of over 100 participating agencies and organizations that showcased services available to Milwaukee County residents.

The event was open to the public from 10:00a.m.-3:00p.m. and witnessed waves of people throughout the day. With community-based organizations, city and county service providers and private sector outreach and assistance providers coming together under one roof, the event served as a one stop learning opportunity. The event also featured speakers that included Milwaukee County District Attorney, and Safe & Sound Board Member John Chisholm. Representing Safe & Sound were Community Partner Al Hegwood, Community Prosecution Unit Coordinators Kati Tillema and Erin Perkins, and Executive Assistant Dan Carpenter. They interacted with attendees to inform residents of the services Safe & Sound provides as well as the work and strategy Safe & Sound performs in our efforts to make Milwaukee neighborhoods safe places to work, live, and raise families.

Reaching out to residents to provide assistance and access to information are key proponents to Safe & Sound’s work in the City of Milwaukee. Access and awareness to resources is important for residents to realize the helpful options that are available to them within their community. Overall, “The Road 2 Recovery Event” was a great success in providing information and resources to Milwaukee County residents. Safe & Sound is pleased to have had the opportunity to meet residents and to reach out to so many people in need.
