VIDEO: Chief Flynn Praises Collaborative Efforts at Safe & Sound Awareness Event

Jun 7th, 2010

On Friday, June 4th, U.S. Senator Herb Kohl, U.S. Attorney James Santelle, District Attorney John Chisholm and Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn hosted the Safe & Sound Update to the Community Luncheon. The discussion focused on Milwaukee and the important collaboration between law enforcement and crime prevention efforts. Participants were given an overview of Safe & Sound and an update on our progress, as well as the challenges and changes that have arisen since the program began.

Safe & Sound was established in 1998 as a pilot initiative to reduce crime, especially violent crime, in high-crime, generally low-income neighborhoods through strong public-private partnerships. Today, the three-pronged initiative operates in 21 City of Milwaukee neighborhoods. The community of Milwaukee created a comprehensive, proactive, collaborative approach to reducing crime.
