District 5 Operation Payback Crew Tells Their Story to Local Media

Jul 20th, 2010

Operation Payback was out removing graffiti while local news cameras roamed the streets and alleys to learn more about this great effort. Operation Payback is a collaboration involving Milwaukee Police, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, and Safe & Sound. Al Hegwood, Safe & Sound Community Partner, was interviewed by Fox 6 and emphasized that it’s not just about removing graffiti and cleaning up alleys. Al tried to impress that it is also an opportunity to develop a sense of community and leadership skills for the young men and women involved. Moreover, it is a chance to work hand in hand with officers and committed community stakeholders, such as residents and community organizers like Al and other Safe & Sound staff.
