Bath salts, a new synthetic drug?

CBS58: Bath salts, a new synthetic drug?

A new synthetic drug has made its way to Wisconsin, and state lawmakers are scrambling to get it banned.

Called Vanilla Sky, Ocean Snow, and many other names, the product is sold as a bath salt, and contains two lab created drugs, Mephodrone and MDPV, both considered dangerous by health officials.

“I’ve seen a number of synthetic drugs and this one has sprung up quickly across the state,” says Daivid Spakowicz, with the Department of Justice.

The drug can either be bought legally at any store or online.

According to Dr. Mark Kostic of the Chilren’s Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin, the bath salts became a huge issue in the south at the end of last year and now Wisconsin has seen 6 cases of bath salt abuse since February.
