Safe 28th & Fairmount Block Club Working Together

A rainy May morning this past spring was the scene of a community clean-up event. Even with the disagreeable weather, residents gathered, set a plan, and took to the streets, alleys, and a local park. Everyone worked as a team and helped each other with clearing of garbage and brush. Planning and assistance was provided by Rose Pritchett and Tim Schermetzler of Safe & Sound. When reflecting back on the day, Block Co-Captain Leatha Morse had a few positive remarks.

“It was an honor and privilege to work with Rose and Safe & Sound. Just his presence alone brought out more resident participation to make it a successful event. If it had not been for Rose and the Safe & Sound organization, I don’t feel we would have been able to accomplish this much.”

Rose continues to support the residents of 28th & Fairmount in their efforts to improve their block. Several of the properties have had ongoing issues of blight and even some nuisance drug activity. Rose is there to support, encourage and leverage the varied resources Safe & Sound and the City of Milwaukee has to offer.
