National Night Out 2010 is one more step forward for community policing efforts in Milwaukee. Just a couple of years ago National Night Out took place in just a few neighborhoods and just a few police districts. Now, it is city-wide and multiple events are planned and carried out with fervor every August.

Business Improvement Districts Can Thrive with Resident Support
Safe & Sound provided a resource table staffed by long-time area organizer Al Hegwood and our newest Community Partner Diane Kosarzycki. They spoke with many of the same people they work with in the neighborhood and met new families interested in working towards a better community.

The United South Action Day on Saturday, July 17th at Lafollette School on North 9th Street and West Ring was a huge success during a busy weekend in MPD district 5.

Resource Fair Provides Valuable Community Information to United North Residents
Students from area schools appeciated the effort. A student from Alliance emphasized that “he was trying to do something different,” and the job resources really inspired him. Another young woman from Mill’s Christian Academy appreciated “the people with helping hands and respectful thoughts” that she met at the event. Shamente stated that the event helped her see that “I can be helped and someone wants to help me.”
