Changes in Crime Across Neighborhoods 2008-2009

January 2009

The following PDF maps display changes in crime across the 21 Safe & Sound sectors over the period of January 1st to December 31st 2008. The data measured includes drug, property, weapons, and violent crime, and generally show very positive improvements across neighborhoods.

2008 UWM-CUIR Safe & Sound Evaluation

February 2008

The Safe & Sound Initiative contracted with the Center for Urban Initiatives and Research (CUIR) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the Safe & Sound Initiative. The study found that the Safe & Sound strategy is truly effective and has a significant impact on neighborhoods when all three elements of Safe & Sound strategy, law enforcement, youth development and community organizing, work together to reduce crime and violence.
